Meet our fighters

Most people choose to support a good cause with a walk, a run, or a nice dinner.
I chose getting punched in the face.
I’m taking part in Punches 4 Plates to raise money for the Ottawa Food Bank, and for me this cause is personal. Growing up, my family used the food bank more than once.
I need your help to crush hunger in Ottawa.
The Ottawa Food Bank and its network of nearly 100 food programs reported over 588,000 visits for food assistance in our city last year—the highest levels their 40-year history! More than a third of the people served are children.

Ottawa is the city where I grew up, being able to contribute in a small way to help people in this same community is important to me.
Training for this event takes real commitment. The weeks leading up to the fight involve late nights, long workouts, and a lot of discipline. Stepping into the ring is the easy part compared to what many families are dealing with when they are struggling to afford basic necessities like food.

The money you donate to the Ottawa Food Bank will help:
- help manage rising costs of food and its distribution,
- ensure the food purchased by the Ottawa Food Bank includes large amounts of nutritious and fresh choices.
Because the Ottawa Food Bank buys food in such large quantities and has amazing food industry partners and supporters, they are able to make your donation go further.

Over the next few months, I am committing to push my body and my mind through rigorous training in order to prepare for this fight.
Early mornings. Exhaustion. Sacrifice.
But I chose this challenge.

Round Two — Fighting to end hunger in Ottawa
I’m excited to share that this June, I’ll be stepping back into the ring for my second charity boxing event, and this time I’m setting the bar even higher.
I'm hoping to raise $2,500 in support of the Ottawa Food Bank.
If stepping into the ring can help make even a small difference, then every round is worth it.
Training for this second event has been a different kind of challenge.
I know what to expect now — the nerves, the preparation, the intensity of fight night.
But I also know how much stronger and more focused I can be.

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I will do just about anything for a good cause.
As a soon-to-be 46 year old, I am proud to say I’ve completed many interesting, weird and wonderful accomplishments throughout my life; and this challenge is no different. Well, if I’m honest, maybe a little different…
I will be boxing. YES, I said boxing.

I’m stepping into the ring for Punches for Plates, on Sunday, June 14th, 2026 - a charity boxing event in support of the Ottawa Food Bank and I need your help.
Boxing has become a huge part of my life. It’s more than just a workout. It’s discipline, focus, and mental clarity. It pushes me to be better every single day. Even more importantly, it’s given me the opportunity to be part of incredible charity events that make a real difference in our community.
Now, I’m using that passion to fight for something bigger.

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be stepping into the ring for my first charity boxing event in support of the Ottawa Food Bank. This fight isn’t just about boxing, it’s about fighting hunger in our community and raising money for families who need support.
Hockey has always been a huge part of my life. I currently play Junior in Carleton Place for the CP Canadians, and I was fortunate enough to be drafted to the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League. Sports have taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of giving back, values I’m bringing with me into this boxing match.
